Christie’s International Real Estate is the world’s leading luxury real estate brand, supported by the iconic Christie’s art business. With a network of affiliated brokerages across 50+ countries, they specialize in properties priced at $1 million and above, attracting millions of discerning international buyers each year.

When Chief Technology Officer Dana Bina decided to rebuild the Christie’s website from the ground up, she turned to Bitovi for a fresh perspective.

The goal was clear: create a website that reflects Christie’s luxury reputation without sacrificing scalability and modularization. Balancing the marketing team’s desire for elegant design with the need for practical, reusable components required a thoughtful, collaborative approach.

1. Discovery & Visioning

We began with an in-depth discovery phase to align with CIRE's vision. Bitovi’s designer, Eileen, led interviews to understand what the team loved and disliked about their current site. Using the Christie’s branding toolkit and inspirations from luxury brands outside of real estate, we crafted a cohesive mood board to guide the design.

2. Information Architecture

Once we identified a design direction, Eileen audited Christie's International Real Estate's information architecture. She noted both static and dynamic content blocks, combined pages, and consolidated the disjointed navigation structure into one user-centric menu experience.

3. Design Phase


With a shared vision and clear architecture in place, we moved into the design phase. Starting with wireframes for the homepage, Eileen emphasized modular, scalable components that could adapt to various needs. She provided visual examples showing how components could work together, ensuring practicality without compromising elegance.

Each page was carefully built, reviewed, and approved before moving forward, creating a smooth, efficient process.

4. Building a Design System


A key deliverable was a robust design system, enabling Christie’s to expand their website with ease. This system ensures consistency across future pages and components, streamlining development and maintaining the brand’s luxurious aesthetic.
